ABOUT ME
My Name is Vikram Naik
I am an Indian artist, based in Canada.
My work is an homage to nature as well as a barometer of my mood. While I hope to capture the likeliness of my subjects, I also aim to express the feelings evoked within me by the subject. I love watercolours for their transparency, fluidity and vibrancy.
My Journey
I worked early in my career in fashion and graphic design before shifting into more commercial roles. The lockdown of 2020 gave me an opportunity to reconnect with art after a long time. While I had primarily worked in gouache and coloured pencils before, I began to explore and subsequently fell in love with the medium of watercolours.

My Artistry
Watercolours are considered difficult because water in itself is hard to control. Water also brings transparency, a much desired quality as it imparts freshness and immediacy. But transparency also means mistakes are harder to conceal or rectify. However once you get into the rhythm of this medium, you will enjoy the fluidity and vibrancy of watercolour.
I typically paint nature – flowers, birds, animals, landscapes are some of my favourite subjects.
